Precision Fits (Choose XDT60/XDT90):​ These models achieve machining roundness of 0.03-0.05mm and surface roughness of Ra3.2μm, sufficient for most bearing interference fits. The XDT60 offers concentricity as tight as 0.02-0.04mm, suitable for multi-bore machining with high coaxiality requirements.

Functional Repair (Choose XDT110/XDT150):​ Large diameter repairs often prioritize removing the wear layer and restoring roundness. The XDT110 offers about 0.10mm roundness, and the XDT150 about 0.20mm. While slightly less precise than smaller models, they meet the functional assembly requirements of large structural components.

3. Consider Power and Efficiency: How Tight is the Schedule?

On-site repairs often face tight deadlines. Power and feed mechanisms impact operational efficiency.

Hydraulic vs. Electric:​ The XDT60 uses a hydraulic motor drive (pump station power 18.5kW), offering advantages like explosion-proofing and good overload protection, suitable for sites with complex electrical environments like mines. The XDT90/110/150 use servo motors, offering benefits like wide speed range, low noise, and high control precision, suitable for fine work inside factories or wind turbine towers.

Feed Methods:​ The "manual/automatic" feed of the XDT90 and the "remote handle" control of the XDT110 significantly reduce operator fatigue, especially during long-travel (500-700mm) machining, where automatic feed provides more stability than pure manual operation.

Selection Tips to Avoid Pitfalls

Don't Just Look at Bore Size:​ The equipment's nominal "machining range" is a theoretical value. During actual selection, confirm sufficient on-site space exists to install the boring bar and support base, especially for larger models like the XDT150, which require a stable bolted foundation.

Material Compatibility:​ Xinda boring bars are typically made of 42CrMo, offering sufficient rigidity. However, pay attention to the workpiece material. For high-hardness cast steel parts, the recommended depth of cut per side is 2-3mm to avoid tool deflection causing taper.

Service Response:​ Once on-site boring begins, equipment failure directly causes downtime. Prioritize manufacturers like Xinda that offer customized boring bars and on-site technical support, ensuring solutions are available for special conditions.
