Four Common Pitfalls When Reading XDFC250 Parameters

Views: 0     Author: Site Editor     Publish Time: 2026-09-14      Origin: Site

Pitfall 1: Mistaking "Machining Diameter 25—250mm" as "All Small Flanges Can Be Turned"

25—250mm is the main diameter range of the XDFC250, but not all small flanges fall within its scope. The precondition for internal support installation is that the flange's inner hole is unobstructed, allowing the support mechanism to expand and press against the hole wall. If the inner hole is blocked, is a full blind hole, or is severely worn and out-of-round to the point that the support fixture cannot center, you need to verify the external-clamp version of the XDFC300 (25—300mm, with dual internal support + external clamp installation). For diameters larger than 250mm, use the XDFC300/XDFC610; diameters smaller than 25mm are not within this machine's range.

Pitfall 2: Mistaking "Flatness 0.10mm" as the Factory Acceptance Line for Every Workpiece

The actual flatness after repair is affected by the material of the flange to be repaired, original damage depth, internal support alignment, hand-cranking rhythm, and on-site vibration. The general industry acceptance reference for on-site maintenance is to control flatness within 0.05mm, with a roughness of Ra3.2 or better.

Pitfall 3: Seeing "Lathe" and Assuming All Seal Grooves Can Be Turned

The XDFC250 is positioned for "on-site machining of small sealing surfaces, including end faces, elliptical surfaces, and other forms". For repairs like water mark lines and shallow grooves, the hand-cranked machine can complete the work by changing tools and adjusting the tool post angle. However, whether it can directly machine special groove types such as RTJ depends on the configuration of the specific sub-model, tools, and support fixtures. You cannot infer that "all groove types come standard with the original machine" just from the word "lathe". For special grooves like RTJ, custom cemented carbide tool bits with special angles are usually required, with the feed rate controlled within 0.05mm/r, resulting in a post-machining roughness of Ra1.6—3.2μm. Whether the XDFC250 can complete this work ultimately depends on the manufacturer's configuration.

Pitfall 4: Assuming "Hand-Cranked" Means "Crank Arbitrarily, Take a Full 0.2mm Cut in One Pass"

The 0.2mm cutting depth is the nominal single-pass reference upper limit, not a fixed value for every cut. The more common practice in hand-cranked operations is the two-stage "peeling-finishing" method: the first pass uses a small cutting depth to peel off rust layers, hard skins, and old water mark line damages; the second pass leaves a small allowance for a fine pass to improve surface finish. Forcing a single cut over 0.2mm will easily cause jamming and tool tip gouging on the surface. The 0—100r/min speed range is also nominal; the actual speed is controlled by the operator based on material, tool wear, and end face conditions, with the entire process prioritizing smooth, vibration-free operation.

Self-Check Table Summarizing the Four Pitfalls

  • ‌Diameter‌: Is the flange outer diameter/inner hole within 25—250mm? If the inner hole is blocked → switch to the external-clamp version.

  • ‌Accuracy‌: 0.10mm is the equipment baseline; the workpiece acceptance value must be re-measured according to flange standards, sealing surface form, drawings, and test blocks.

  • ‌Groove Type‌: End faces, elliptical surfaces, water mark lines/shallow grooves are verifiable; special grooves like RTJ must be confirmed against the sub-model configuration and tools.

  • ‌Hand-Cranking‌: 0.2mm is the single-pass reference upper limit; follow the "peeling-finishing" two-stage method in practice; control speed smoothly by feel.

When reading portable equipment parameters, do not only focus on large numbers. Only by verifying "diameter range, accuracy baseline, groove type boundary, and hand-cranking rhythm" at the same time can you fully understand the specification sheet.
